The New York Times reports that Mayor Michael Bloomberg is encouraging new yorkers to embrace a organic food separation disposal program. which is intended to be processed on aa future facility capable of handling 100,000 tons of organic material  year .

It is not clear how the population will react to this program, and is expected to begin a trial period of two to three years, before it becomes mandatory for all citizens of New York.

Social media commenting are split on the action taken by Mr. Bloomberg, on the one hand providing a positive feedback on the program, and on the other hand complaining on the hardships and political reasons behind the pilot.

Should program be successful other cities are to join similar efforts.
